Andorra Travel Destinations and Information on Ski Resorts

Situated in the Pyrenees, the Principality of Andorra is an exciting country with a number of ski resorts and hiking trails sprinkled throughout the mountainous region. Andorra is located between France and Spain and offers a wide variety of summer and winter resorts to make your stay more enjoyable. Tourism accounts for approximately 80% of the overall output of Andorra, and the industry is growing rapidly with more people discovering the striking attractions that the country has to offer. Andorra travel usually consists of a luxurious stay in one of the ski resorts that have been transformed from a quaint village nestled on a mountainside into a tourist hot spot.

Other destinations in Andorra include the capital city Andorra la Vella. A guide to this area will uncover a rich cultural heritage marked by intriguing architectural designs with Romanesque features that date back to the eleventh century. 10 million tourists visit the country annually, most stopping at least briefly in Andorra la Vella. This city offers a lot of fantastically preserved old churches and buildings for sightseeing and provide a nice starting point when exploring the mountainous region. Another interesting place to visit in the capital is the 12 th century bell tower.

Flights in and out of Andorra generally require that tourists use an airport in Barcelona, Spain or France. Travel by car is much easier in Andorra since the streets are paved well, and there is very little public transportation service. Andorra uses the Euro as the main form of currency along with most of the other European countries. Catalan is the primary language spoken in Andorra, but other languages such as Spanish, French, and Portugese are always widely known. Some heavily populated tourist areas speak English, but it is best to be familiar with at least one other of the most common languages.

The ski resorts are the most alluring attraction that Andorra has to offer, and they have been combined leaving two distinct ski areas: Vallnord and Grandvalira. Most of the resorts have evolved from a small mountain area into a large-scale tourist attraction with accommodations and entertainment to allow for a relaxing and memorable vacation. The accommodations in Andorra are incredible, and for the avid skier, this is perhaps the most important travel destination on the map. For more information on Andorra travel, a video guide or other resources will assist you in finding the best accommodations for your trip.
