Welcome to City of Flanders

Flanders is located in northern Belgium and is home to some of the largest and most influential cities in the country. While the actual geography has changed over time, there is no doubt that any part of Belgium that has ever been a part of Flanders has seen some amazing history and culture. When discussing Flanders, the name could have several connotations. It is the Flemish social, cultural, economic, and political community, but it also simply the name of the geographic region in the north of Belgium. The entire area is split into five provinces, including Antwerp, Limburg, East Flanders, Flemish Brabant, and West Flanders. Some of the major cities in Flanders include Brussels, Bruges, Antwerp, Ghent, and Leuven.

The entire area is known for its culture and architecture. Visitors will see many different styles from several eras, including Art Deco, gothic, and baroque. In many places, structures from the Middle Ages still stand, and sometimes buildings from even earlier. All of this history intermingles with modern conveniences, such as high fashion shopping, gourmet restaurants, and important museums. Art is plentiful, with some of the most influential masters exhibited in the hundreds of museums in the area. There truly is something for everyone.
