Montenegro Travel Guide

Welcome to Montenegro

Montenegro is a country located in the Balkans bordered by the Adriatic Sea. It is divided into five separate regions: the Bay of Kotor, Budva Riviera, Centra Montenegro, Montengrin South Coast, and the North Montengrin Mountains. Several of these areas have been developed for tourism since the country has recently seen an influx of more visitors. Aside from the grand views on the beaches of the Adriatic Sea, the country also has a wide array of natural beauty found in the mountain peaks and the low-lying valleys. Tourism is a blossoming industry in Montenegro as more tourists visit each year.

The capital of the country and a popular travel destination is Podgorica. A guide can help you detail your plans for travel and find the most attractive deals on flights. This city has a lot of unique museums, galleries, and theaters to interest a traveler. The Montenegrin National Theatre is the prominent and influential theatre in Montenegro, but there are also other theatres including the children's theatre and the puppet's theatre. Museums including the Natural History Museum and the Podgorica City Museum can be found here and give a very complete overview of the historical and cultural ties of the country.

Another place to visit in Montenegro is the Bay of Kotor. The Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor is marked as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and it is well known for its beauty and sparkling waters. The Bay is a fjord and essentially a submerged river canyon. Ancient Cathedrals and churches can also be viewed here. Another seaport location to visit is Bar, Montenegro. This is one of the most popular seaside places to visit because of the accommodations offered in the area. Visit the Budva Riviera for an exciting blend of beaches, nightlife, and villages.

A travel guide will give you more detailed information on flights, hotels, restaurants, shopping, and other accommodations. You can find a video travel guide or purchase a book. Montenegro uses the Euro, so become familiar with this currency so you will know how much you will need for your trip. Montenegrin is the most frequently spoken language in the country, but others are also spoken as well. A travel book on Montenegro can give you a list of key words and phrases to remember when you are traveling in case you need to speak with a local for directions or advice on restaurants and sightseeing locales.
