Boasting a winning combination of alpine landscapes, lush plains, interesting medieval Venetian towns and the azure Mediterranean ocean lapping at its shores, Slovenia has it all. It’s not hard to see why this fairy tale country is increasing in popularity each and every year as hundreds of holiday makers discover its many charms.  It also has an added extra up its sleeve with an abundant selection of natural thermal spas to visit. With that in mind, make for a wonderfully relaxing trip and visit Slovenia for a spa break.

Slovenia

Terme Dobrna takes the title as the oldest spa in Slovenia; the springs here have sprung since the Roman times and were first mentioned in literature in 1403. It boasts original marble baths which have survived since the hotel was initially built in 1624. The surrounding park is renowned for its excellent examples of Feng Shui with much reference to the five elements said to restore natural balance in the body. With 7 saunas on site, water temperatures of 35c and a mind boggling array of treatments to choose from, this hotel proves to be the perfect place for some ultimate indulgence with a good dose of Slovenian history thrown in too.

If history doesn’t appeal and you would prefer to visit a more modern thermal spa, travel to Olimia Thermal Spa with Slovenia car hire. Olimia offers the largest sauna complex in the whole of Slovenia and incorporates colours and sounds into all aspects of your visit. The waters are naturally pumped from depths of 500 metres with healing properties thought to cure fatigue, pain and wounds as well as increase circulation and ease muscle tension. Experience the oriental rituals of a Turkish bath and be at one with nature in the Japanese Garden or the Green Garden.  There is also a selection of sporting activities to enjoy on site from golf to tennis so this is the ultimate place to go for a healthy, rejuvenating break.

Terme Lendava on the other hand is definitely worth considering for its facilities but also its location and nearby attractions. Located in the east of the country where Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia meet, the site is surrounded by fantastic flora and fauna and vineyards cover the Lendava hills. The town and surrounding countryside isn’t the only appeal though; the spa and the other facilities are certainly endearing in themselves. The water here is unique in that it is thermo mineral paraffin water and is green in colour due to the high paraffin content. Whilst this may sound off-putting, the water is said to be extremely rejuvenating. Enjoy the fabulous facilities and treatments available in this small resort and discover the nearby delights too.

This is just a very small selection of the many spas to be discovered in Slovenia. Rest assured that there are plenty more on offer so you will be sure to find the spa that is perfect for you.  Take your pick and come away from this fantastic country feeling fabulous!
