Serbia Travel Destinations in Southern Europe

Serbia is a Balkans country located in the Southern part of Europe. The natural scenery and pleasant countryside are attributes that have made Serbia a popular tourist destination. Serbia is landlocked in Southern Europe surrounded by border countries. The Serbs are amazingly friendly and welcoming to outsiders and tourists, and they are eager to share information about their homeland with foreigners. The historical influence is diverse and rich with seven roman emperors being born in the country with monuments and sites dedicated to their life throughout the country.

The country is divided into five regions with one autonomous entity, Kosovo. The five regions are: Belgrade, Podunavlje, Pordrinje, Sumadija, and Vojvodina. Belgrade is the most popular city in Serbia, and it is also the capital. A Belgrade guide is appropriate if you need help determining the best places to visit and the ideal accommodations for your getaway. The tourism potential in Belgrade is recently being revitalized. There are several interesting attractions to see on a trip to Belgrade like the National Museum, Belgrade Zoo, Belgrade Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, the Assembly of Serbia, the White Palace, and the Belgrade Fortress.

Other attractions to take note of in Belgrade include the Ada Ciganlija, the Public Observatory, and the National Theatre. The Ada Ciganlija is a prominent river island located in the heart of the city. A lot of sunbathers visit the gravelly beach every year. Some people play sports or swim. Avala is a beautiful mountain near Belgrade that is worth a visit.

The Serbians use the Denar as their main form of currency, and all travelers should make sure to understand currency exchange rates and how to use the currency before arriving at the country. Serbian is the main language spoken in Serbia, but Serbs will go out of their way to kindly give you help and guidance when you need it. Some people in Serbia are versed in other languages, but it is not as common as the official language. To help you become familiar with the language, buy a pocket dictionary that you can take with you on your trip in case you need to look up a quick word if someone strikes up a conversation with you. It is also important to be respectful to Serbian people and to treat them well. They are usually very kind and amiable to visitors, and your kindness in return will be much appreciated.
