Whether you’re looking for a short weekend break with your partner or a family holiday to Edinburgh there is so much that this historical city can offer you! Edinburgh has so much to offer for places to stay such as a comfortable guest house in the center or outskirts of the city where you will be minutes away from historical and natural sites.

There are many different sites that are recommended that you should see when visiting Scotland. Of course, one of these is Edinburgh castle,  a monument full of history with interesting highlights such as the Scottish crown jewels. If you’re visiting Edinburgh in August, Edinburgh castle hosts the Edinburgh Military Tattoo which enables the public to enjoy and admire the work of the military.

If you’re visiting any other time of the year, look forward to the 1pm firing of the gun, it’s apparently ear splitting! Don’t worry, this doesn’t fire on a Sunday!

 

 

If you’re wanting a quiet and relaxing day out on a Sunday, why not take a trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens or  the Scottish National Gallery. Both of these attractions are free to enter and are open on Sunday’s. Take a stroll around the gardens and grounds and take in the quiet ambience of the countryside. It will be sure to relax you perfectly for your relaxing Sunday day.

Why not finish the day off nicely with a few drinks and a pub meal in many of the friendly local pubs in Edinburgh. This is an excellent chance to integrate with the locals and experience the culture and lifestyle of Scotland. All of the local pubs offer friendly service and some of which offer live music or show the local football matches on TV.

 

If your entertaining young children on your trip to Edinburgh, take a break from all the history by visiting Edinburgh zoo which local Tourist information points can help you with information and discounts on entry to attractions such as this.

There are also many fun museums and exhibitions for young people to enjoy such as Camera Obscura in the city center.

 

All in all, you won’t be stuck for things to do in this beautiful city. It doesn’t matter whether you prefer history or just a fun and relaxing break, there are plenty of options and places for you to explore.
